President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Saturday (30/10) attended the G20 Summit held in La Nuvola, Rome, Italy.
On that occasion, the Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi said that multilateral cooperation is imperative to address the challenges generated by the pandemic.
“In many ways, this is the only possible answer for the pandemic, climate change, and fair and equitable taxation. We must do everything we can to overcome our differences and we must rekindle the spirit that has led to the formation of this group,” PM Draghi said.
The Prime Minister also encouraged all countries to continue vaccine rollout to get forty percent of the global population vaccinated by the end of 2021. All countries must work hard to achieve the target of seventy percent vaccinated people by mid-2022, he stated.
“We must also continue to invest in research, remove trade barriers affecting COVID-19 vaccines, and increase predictability in their delivery, and we need to strengthen supply chains while expanding vaccine production capacity at local and regional levels,” he remarked.
