President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (11/11) addressed several measures to tackle the impacts of climate change during the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Dialogue with Economic Leaders.
“The President conveyed that the handling of climate change impacts must go hand in hand with sustainable development which combines social and economic considerations,” Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahendra Siregar said in his press statement on the APEC-ABAC Summit, Thursday (11/11).
Mahendra went on to say that extraordinary measures for conservation of forests and marine wealth, as well as transformation towards new and renewable energy must improve welfare of low-income people.
According to him, in particular, the President revealed a number of priority programs that will be developed in Indonesia, including investment in the development of green industrial park, industrial development that includes supply chains from batteries to electric cars, as well as massive carbon trading potential.
“The President invites investors from ABAC members to make the most of it and also be part of investment partners in Indonesia,” he added.
On that occasion, the Deputy Minister said that the synergy between APEC players or APEC member countries could expand wider opportunities for countries in the region. (FID/AIT/SLN) (RIF/LW)
